Every year Google publish the most searched items in that particular year. And we all knew that 2023 has both good and bad events. But from my point, people searched mostly for the negative news. Eg : Manipur issues and Odissa train accident. Chandrayaan 3 was launched, people were also searching for that, even myself peeped in google about the space and related things. I don’t have much interest in space research but still people were updating stories and posts and that made me to search for chandrayaan. But at that time i felt like dumb. I thought that this was the most mandatory thing, although it was. An individual should create their own interest, but the active audience forces them to. And it was like a two step flow forcefully.
And every event have not prolonged for more than 10 days. This shows that the audience interest changes time to time. If they get a new information they focus on sharing that, and thus they leaves the old one behind.
By the list of last year search engine , people shows more interest to know about the development and disasters which are happened during the period 2023 . We also use social media for entertainment purposes one of best entertainment for Indian was cricket because we celebrate the success like our own.Searching a popular frames activity is also a part time of people’s life like Kiara Advani.People also show more interest towards there skin and hair , to protect there beauty and health.
The search tells about what is important for the people today . How the country is moving towards .
After failure of first attempt of landing Chandrayaan 3 on south pole of the moon, in 2023, Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft successfully landed on the moon on August 23. With Chandrayaan-3, India became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first country to land on the south pole of the Moon. This mission propelled India into the elite club of lunar explorers, joining the US, Russia, and China. According to Google Trends, “CHANDRAYAAN 3” was the most searched term in India in 2023.It reflects the joy and the pride of every Indian about country’s mission’s success.
It became trend because this mission is a milestone for Indian space program and helped to raise India’s profile on the global stage.
My views on the article, What was ‘Googled’ in 2023:
From what I read, it’s a fascinating piece that highlights the most searched news events in India in 2023. I find it intriguing to see how Chandrayaan-3, India’s lunar mission, topped the list. It’s a testament to the country’s advancements in space exploration. The article also covers other significant events, both national and international, which adds to its overall appeal. Also, It’s heartening to know that people around the world were concerned about the Hamas war and the Manipur ethnic violence. It shows the global interconnectedness and empathy towards important issues happening in different parts of the world. It’s important for people to stay informed and engaged with such events to promote understanding and support. It’s great to see that these incidents sparked interest and concern among people worldwide. And also it is amusing to see other searches like Mango pickle and more were on top searched list on Google in 2023.
Overall, I think it’s a well-written and informative article that sheds light on the interests and curiosity of people.
Google Trends 2023
Platforms like Google and other social media sites often use algorithms that prioritise content based on user engagement. If a particular topic starts gaining attraction due to viral sharing, even if it’s not the most important issue, it can dominate trends and discussions. Since people have a lot of craze to cinema and its glamour, people fall for it and become its prey. That is the reason why some of the sensational issue doesn’t get its due voice and support. People are always less critical and wants entertained every time. So, we can’t rely really on these trends. These are just some expressions by the millennials who use the internet.
Every year Google publish the most searched items in that particular year. And we all knew that 2023 has both good and bad events.

My thoughts on the trends on Google search in 2023:
It’s interesting to see that Chandrayaan-3 was the most searched term among news events in India in 2023. The lunar mission definitely captured people’s attention, and it’s amazing that it made it to the global list as well. It’s great to see India’s achievements in space exploration getting recognition. The other news events mentioned in the article also seem significant, with both national and international events making the list.
Among the most searched sports events, the IPL took the first spot followed by the Cricket World Cup. The Asian Games and Indian Super League were the only non-cricketing sports events in the top 10 list.Globally, the top 10 search terms in the news category were about natural disasters and shootings that happened in North America.
Overall, it’s fascinating to get a glimpse of what people were searching for in 2023.

Google trends is an very useful tool for media because it helps in finding the trend and know what people search more on internet. Google is the major and most dominating search engine in the world. Every year google make a list of SEO terms that are searched most by the google users on the internet but they cannot claim that this is the only term searched most by the people in world because there are a lot of search engines on the market. Google functions different in every countires because each country has it’s own set of rules and regulations.
In “ What is “ section G-20 was the most searched term in India. The G20, or Group of Twenty, is an international forum comprising major economies aimed at addressing global economic challenges and fostering cooperation. Established in 1999, the G20 consists of 19 individual countries and the European Union. The member nations include both developed and emerging economies. The G20 holds annual summits where leaders discuss and coordinate policies on issues such as financial stability, trade, climate change, and sustainable development. The forum plays a crucial role in shaping global economic governance and promoting dialogue among nations. The G20’s focus extends beyond economic matters, encompassing broader geopolitical and social concerns, making it a key platform for international collaboration.
In “ Movie“ section Jawan was the most searched term in India. There was a lot more movie had a real hype, South India has movies that really created an trend on internet but those movies have not been on the list. It creates doubt on google that it gives information favour of the corporate companies.
There is a research and even case was also filed on google for using consumers data for commercial purpose. So, google trends is not trust worthy! It can be used as a tool but not as an source of real information.

Every year, Google compiles the most frequently searched searches on the Google search engine and publishes them in the name of Google Trends. Based on that, Google has released Google Trends in India for the year 2023 under 12 topics.
‘Israel News’ ranked third in India’s Google Trends list under the topic ‘News Event’ in 2023 and ‘Hamas kya hai’ (what is hamas) ranked fourth in India’s Google Trends list in 2023 under the topic ‘What is’.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched an unexpected attack on Israel. Many people died in this attack. Israel immediately launched a war against Hamas in response to this attack. The war has been going on for the past three months. Many Palestinians and Israelis have died in this war so far.
In 1948, the Jewish-majority area of Palestine became the State of Israel. Since then, the war between Israel and Palestine continues. In this case, the Israel Hamas war, which started last October, has caused a great debate on the Internet.
Palestine supporters have been posting their views on social media under the hashtag of #freepalestine and Israel supporters as #standwithisrael.

At the end of every year Google release its top trend lists This time most awaited Karnataka Election Results also took part in the most trended list 2023.
The Indian National Congress (INC) has emerged as the clear winner with a convincing victory, securing 135 seats and an overall vote share of 42.9%.
This is a remarkable achievement for the party, as they haven’t won such a massive mandate since the 1989 elections, where they secured 178 seats and a vote share of 43.76%. In the 1978 elections, the Congress party had obtained a vote share of 44.25%, bagging 149 seats. However, it’s important to note that before 1978, the Karnataka legislative assembly known as the Mysore legislative assembly had 216 seats, making any comparison with current results less astute.
The INC emerged victorious, securing an impressive 55-seat gain from its previous tally of 80 seats in the 2018 elections. However, it was a different story for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which suffered a massive setback, losing 38 seats from its previous count of 104. The biggest change, though, was the dismal performance of the Janata Dal (Secular), which lost almost 50% of its seats in the 2018 elections The JD(S) had won 37 seats in the previous election of 2018, but this time, it managed to secure only 19 seats.

Looking at Google Trends for 2023, it’s interesting to see what caught our attention. Surprisingly, the Manipur conflict, even though it’s important, didn’t make it to the top 3 searches. Instead, celebrities like Kiara Advani were more popular. Why? It seems we’re attracted to exciting and sensational topics. The seriousness of Manipur might make us prefer lighter and more entertaining stuff. Popularity doesn’t always equal significance. A catchy meme or celebrity gossip can trend higher than complex issues like Manipur due to their immediate “wow” factor. People might seek lighter topics like entertainment to escape the negativity. Globally, things vary – issues like Israel-Hamas reach more places than Manipur, influencing more regions. Searching for information on Manipur is different from fan-driven searches for Kiara. While Google Trends gives a lively picture, it’s not a ranking of news importance. It reflects our collective interests, a mix of serious and fleeting things. Remember, trends are just stories, not declarations of importance. Let’s appreciate their diversity and keep seeking the truth beyond the hype.
At the end of every year, it is customary to publish the top 10 most searched things on Google. Also one of the most searched topics in 2023 is “Manipur violence”. The news of the sexual harassment of two women in particular created tension across the country. In an unexpected twist, India made people look back. On May 4, a conflict began in Manipur over the sharing of economic benefits and quotas given to the Kuki and Moidi tribes. A gruesome video of two women from the Kuki tribe being stripped naked and paraded through the streets by a group of men belonging to the Maithei community has been shared on social media and has caused national shock. One of the two women has also been gang-raped. This incident created animosity among the people and among the politicians. “Manipur Atrocities” is an incident that has made not only India but also other countries look back.
Google trends had many categories like ‘How to make’, ‘What is’, ‘People’ , ‘Sports event’ and so on. On the most searched people Kiara Advani is on the top as she got married and that was a royal marriage. Followed by Shubman Gill as he and Tendulkar’s daughter Sara Tendulkar had a controversy on Deep Fake image as hes brother was replaced by Shubman Gill, that can be the main reason of his more search. In those lists ‘Travel Destinations’ is one among those categories as many people started travelling after the pandemic travel destination has also been common in Google trends, more common abroad trips has been Bali, Thailand and also government has made visa free for some countries which has made more easy to travel abroad.
