Janani Panchayat Meet. April 21, 2024.

Organic Farmers Meet @ Redwoods Organic Farm, Chinna Thadagam, Coimbatore.

Thirteen farmers inclusive of three women from Coimbatore attended the Janani Panchayat Meet at Chinna Thadagam, Coimbatore. The event started at 10.05 am with oath taking by all farmers. The charter and vision of Janani was explained to the farmers by DR. Jayaprakash. C.R, the owner of REDWOODS farm.

After self-introduction by the farmers, discussions were made on effective planning, cultivation and marketing of organic farm produce. Efforts were made to link the farmers in cultivation and marketing procedures.

Here are the views expressed by the participant farmers.

DR. Jayaprakash. C.R: There is a good demand for organic food products in Coimbatore. Combined marketing efforts would benefit all the farmers practicing organic agriculture.

K.Prabhu: Value addition of agricultural products will increase the income of the farmers.

Mrs. Bharathi.P: Need suggestions to raise a farm which has moderate irrigation facility and located near the reserve forest at Melbhaviyur, Tholampalayam, in the north-western region of Coimbatore.

Navaneetha Krishnan: Marketing oil and value added products to the customers in Coimbatore.

Prabhu.D: Happy to find a group of farmers practicing organic procedures. Eager to learn more about it to practice in the future.

Babu.D: Manufacturing Cold Pressed Oil at my farm in Thadagam and selling it to the customers at Coimbatore.

Jothimani.D: Practicing Organic Farm for over 10 years and marketing Dhal, Turmeric grown at farms in Anaikatti.

DR.Eswaramoorthy.S: Manufacturing bio-inputs for organic cultivation at Somanur. Would be happy to visit fields on my own and suggest suitable pest and disease control methods. MY company, Greencity biotech is one of the 16 recognised bio-inputs manufacturing unit in Coimbatore.

Ranganathan.B: Owning a farm at Idigarai and interested in marketing coconuts with some value addition.

Arun Raja.M: Owning an organic farm VST at Madathur. Buffaloes are used to maintain a better biodiversity to the soil at my farm. Marketing greens and vegetables to the customers in the city in an Electric Vehicle along with Redwoods farm in Thadagam.

Rajasankar: Owning a farm in Devarayapuram. Marketing value added products. Ready to join hands with other farmers.

Mrs.Geetha Jayaprakash offered a simple vegetarian lunch for all the participants and the meeting concluded by 1.30 pm. Resolved to participate and grow with Janani Panchayat Network.
